Spies and kisses--the perfect combination to make you swoon! Amber Lynn Perry masterfully places you within the battle of the American Revolution with an honor-bond hero and a too-courageous-for-her-own-good heroine. Throw in a dastardly villain and you have the makings of hours of reading enjoyment. Pick this one up guys! Especially for fans of Laura Frantz and Tamara Leigh.

It's written in a way that immersed me in the setting, had my hands gripping my kindle from the action, and feeling the powerful emotions of Caroline and James. They had strong chemistry, and also strong convictions as they each fought in their own way to support Washington and the Patriots. Part of the story is also told from the point of view of Captain Greene, the vengeful Redcoat pursuing them, increasing the suspense and tension. There are some twists that I don't want to give away, but something else I enjoyed was how the lives of the characters from the previous books in the series were entwined with James and Caroline. This book would read well as a stand alone, but for full enjoyment of this amazing series I recommend reading them in order and watch the history unfold during the birth of our country's independence. (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

British Captain James Higley is swathed in mystique; wearing a bright red coat while shuttling secrets to the Patriots, he plays a dangerous game; one that takes his total concentration, for one false move would jeopardize lives on both sides of America's vicious fight for freedom. The one distraction that he doesn't need, and has escaped for years, is a beautiful woman, one whose courage and determination in the face of danger has involuntarily cracked open James' resolution to maintain his role as her enemy. Caroline Whitney is desperate; upon learning that her brother is imprisoned rather than dead, she impulsively flees her home to seek advice from her cousin. Upon arriving at the deserted foundry, she barely escapes notice by two British officers who happen upon the location, for a private meeting. Overhearing their conversation, she unsuccessfully tries to slip past the two Redcoats, who proceed to apprehend her as a spy. One of them is different; kinder, perhaps . . . . but it really doesn't matter, because in the end, she is forced upon his horse in spite of his quiet admonition to trust him. "She had no hope. She had nothing." Amber Lynn Perry has concluded her "Daughter of His Kingdom" series on a thrilling high note, surrounding her characters with danger and peril on every side, skillfully magnifying their courage; the kind of courage that built this "land of the free and the home of the brave", gifting generations to come with the hope of freedom.

I understood their strengths, weaknesses and desires. It was awesome. The Revolutionary War is one of my favorite times in history to read about. There were so many struggles, so many hardships and so many courageous men and women who gave everything for the cause of freedom. It's inspiring and it always serves as a good reminder for me of how blessed we are as a country because of valiant and brave people who throughout our history have held on to those ideals of freedom which continue on today. Their story of struggles, bravery, secrets, and love just stole my heart and grabbed my attention. I couldn't get enough of it. Caroline's growth was slow and steady, which I loved because it was more realistic and relatable. But one thing that never changed for her was her courage. She went through so many things I couldn't imagine going through myself. Captured because soldiers thought I was a spy? And then acting so brave afterwards? I'm pretty sure James couldn't have survived without her! Amber Lynn Perry is an author to remember. I only wish I had found this series earlier! I highly recommend reading the series in order, only because I feel like they are probably remarkable stories. I received a complimentary copy of this book. However, what most endures the reader to this story are its two main characters who risk all to save those they love and fight for what they believe is right. Fans of the genre and of the series will find much to love in this story. I frankly just adored these characters! Caroline is sweet, smart, and has quite a backbone. She can also be quite ferocious when she's fighting for what is hers. She was a little quick to act without thought and wasn't quite as worried about danger as I thought she should be, but otherwise, I really enjoyed getting to know her. James or Captain Higley was fabulous. He's a man you can't help but admire, while also fearing that he won't remain safe in the end. He's quite the gentleman and I loved his interactions with Caroline, but also with others who he calls friends. There are also cameos of characters from prior books in the series, for those who have read the other books and may be interested. I didn't read the other books, but I didn't have any issues following this story. There were just a few things that didn't work for me. Some included the ease that the rebels' camps were overtaken and Caroline captured. As I mentioned, I also felt Caroline was a little too forward and fearless in some situations given the setting. And one other thing... some of the story dragged and there were areas that were fairly long-winded (like when some soldiers are in a line ready to be executed and then there are four plus pages of dialogue why they're standing there, which seemed overly dramatic and unrealistic). Otherwise, this was a very enjoyable story. In the end, was it what I wished for? The inspirational element was present, but not overbearing, and was weaved through the story quite well. The setting kept things quite entertaining, while providing likable characters with a romance that was sweet with plenty of chemistry. An overall enjoyable story. Content: Some innuendo and violence, but clean. Source: I received a complimentary copy from JustRead Tours, which did not require a positive review nor affect it in any way.

Caroline Whitney's only desire is to free her brother Enoch, long believed dead but a prisoner of the British, but soon finds herself captured by Captain James Higley of the British Army.  His only desire is to fulfill his mission, and she would love to leave him to it, but he will keep saving her from their mutual nemesis.  As for Captain Greene, driven by his past and his loathing for James, who he is certain is the elusive informant to the Patriot cause, will let nothing get in the way of bringing both James and Caroline to the hangman's noose. Patriots, soldiers, spies, good versus evil, and a slow building romance between two people of faith and determination.  What a treat for the Historical Romance reader who enjoys stories set during the American Revolution.  I may have the odd quibble about an occasional turn of phrase, but there were others that I very much enjoyed, and my biggest complaint is that I have not yet read the previous books in the series and so may still have ahead of me the stories of when James and Caroline were each thwarted in love.  But when I do, I'll know what lies ahead. Recommended for those who enjoy their Historical Christian Romance novels set during the Revolutionary War.  And reading them in order is likely a very good idea. Poor Caroline had been made to believe that no man could love her the way she was. And James felt so guilty because of a grave mistake he had made in the past. I found it interesting that the story was told from three different perspectives, the third being that of a British soldier who sought the informant passing intelligence to the rebels. This officer was a perfectly loathsome man as all good villains should be. The romance between Caroline and James developed at a believable rate and was sweet as they helped each other to see their worth. I enjoyed Caroline’s propensity to act first and think later. She managed to create a number of dangerous situations through her impulsive actions. There was an incident at the end of the book that I didn’t really understand. It just didn’t make sense to me. But it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. While it was obvious this was part of a series from the way some of the characters were referenced, I didn’t feel like I was lost for not having read the other books. I am now curious about them and may go back and read them. Read my full review with a Preview at Among the Reads I was given a copy of this book for free. So Bright a Hope is rich in historical detail, as is Perry’s passion for this time period. I couldn’t help but be drawn to both lead characters – Captain James Higley of the British military, a man of honor, courage, and skill who is much more than he seems; and Caroline, a Patriot determined to get to her prisoner-of-war brother. Romance fans will love the chemistry between these two. The pace is swift, with plenty of suspense, intrigue, adventure and drama. While I might wish for the absence of the Redcoat Greene, a cunning and evil villain, he is essential to the story. But there’s also inspiration, humor, and a steady thread of hope. The author has created many memorable characters throughout the series and I especially loved how they were all connected. While I had no problems reading this book without having read the others in the series, I’m wishing I had because Amber Lynn Perry sure knows how to suck you in to a book! I finished the entire thing in a day. This author is certainly being added to my follow pile! James and Caroline are thrown together by chance, but their story unfolds as if it was always meant to be. Their story unfolds in a unique way in that while they’ve just met, they are able to somehow figure out ways to accomplish what they intend. Nothing appears to come easy for them, and not always knowing how the other will act certainly causes some anxiety. What’s interesting is their ability to “roll with the punches” and adapt with whatever obstacles are thrown at them. This is a review that will be shorter than most simply because I don’t want to spoil anything in the story. Be prepared to be caught by surprising turns of events often. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to read when you open it up, because you won’t want to put it down! At the end of the book the author states that she will be starting a new series as a spinoff of this one, so I’m sure I’ll be keeping my eye out for that one! *I received a copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. So Bright A Hope is a page turning story set during the Revolutionary War. It has page turning action, spies, and a love story. Every thing to make a great book. This is the final book in the series. It ended in a way that left me feeling very satisfied and a bit sad to see it end. This is a book for historical lovers and ones who love romance too. *I was given a copy by the author and this is my honest opinion

What a fabulous story! This is the first book by Amber Lynn Perry that I have read and I can’t believe I haven’t read her books sooner since I love historical romance. This is the fifth and last book in the Daughters of His Kingdom series. They are all intricately intertwined in this story. The writing is authentic and easy to follow, the plot is well-crafted and suspenseful at times, the characters are simply lovely, and the element of faith is consistent in the characters’ lives. If you enjoy historical romance set during Revolutionary War time, you will absolutely love this book. Caroline, a stubborn, intelligent, opinionated, and somewhat reckless Patriot, finds herself in a daze of grief, confusion, and anger when her world falls apart with her brother’s death in the Continental Army and with being captured as a “spy” by the British. James, a British Army captain who is a double agent for the Continental Army, is a kind, tender, intelligent, compassionate man who tasks himself to protect Caroline when he sees no other way of helping her. Both have hearts full of love that only each other can unlock but mistrust, deception, and pain from the past all become stumbling blocks. There are some heart-wrenching and tender scenes in the book that are unforgettable. Now I must go back and read the other books in the series.... I was given a copy of the book by the author/publisher via JustRead Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

She agrees to cooperate as long as James helps her to free her brother Enoch, a Patriot soldier imprisoned there. With danger constantly near, they have to learn to rely on each other despite their seemingly different loyalties. As their feelings grow stronger for each other, their hearts and minds become more conflicted than ever. As usual, Amber Lynn Perry writes with such drama and rich descriptions! The way that the story of James, Caroline, and Enoch concludes is so exciting! I feel as though I’m being transported back in time almost 250 years ago, personally witnessing the grave danger the came to both soldiers and everyday citizens. I am in awe of the bravery and boldness shown by both the characters in this whole series and by the real names and faces of the Revolution, some of whom were never rich or famous. As James says at the beginning of the story, “Liberty is the eternal gift. With it, we have everything. Without, naught at all.” This perfectly captures the hope and message of the Daughters of His Kingdom series, and I highly recommend reading all of them, and in order! I received a copy of this book from the author and am under no obligation to provide a positive review. All opinions are my own.

So Bright a Hope is a riveting and compelling look at a slice of history that shaped our country’s birth—the Revolutionary War. With a richly painted setting in Massachusetts in 1776, Amber Lynn Perry has populated this story with colorful, vividly drawn characters that come alive on the page. Her careful historical research is evident in every scene, in the terminology and language of that time, and the hardship the Patriots had to endure in their fight for independence. The main characters, Caroline and James were endearing and authentic, and I loved the interaction between them. The care that James took with Caroline was so tender, even though she was often impulsive and outspoken. The complex plot took me on a roller coaster ride and had me turning pages far into the night. Packed with adventure, intrigue, suspense, and romance, this story also carries an inspiring message of hope, faith, courage, and optimism. This is the last book in Perry’s Daughters of His Kingdom series, and each one has been wonderful, but I feel that this is her finest writing yet. I would definitely recommend this to those who enjoy historical romantic fiction. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

So bright a book! Carolyn might not read a lot of fiction but I do! I revel in good christian fiction, savoring its hopeful stories. James Higley is a hero to root for and Carolyn Whitney is an absolute treasure! I'd wish to be her friend. Both characters were smart, clever, brave... but human... In a sweet, tender way. In fact because of that, I thought it would end sooner than it did! But I'm glad it didn't (and the story never dragged). It was hard to put down the night I started it, and I rushed to finish their story this morning over a hot cup of tea. I'll admit I even teared up close to the end, clutching my heart. But I'll speak no more of that for fear of spoiling. I really enjoyed and appreciated how Mrs. Perry illustrated and brought to life our own history. It is not an easy thing but she brought it to life with Grace and a deep understanding of sacrifice. Thank you to the author for touching on these subjects. I will recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from her! I was gifted a book from Just Read Tours in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Amber Lynn Perry has ended the Daughters of His Kingdom series with, what I believe to be, her best work yet. The words and phrases used throughout the story are nothing short of genius. Each sentence has a meaning. Not a word is wasted. This story will grab you and take you on a journey like you have never traveled before. The romance will make your heart beat faster, and cause you to quickly fall in love right alongside Caroline and James. When the last page is turned you will be fulfilled with a story well told, but bereft at having to leave those people who have leapt off the page and joined your life. You will be more knowledgeable because of the historical details. I hope you will give this work of art a chance. You won't be sorry you did.

I pre-ordered this beautiful book as soon as it was available and was so excited when it appeared on my Kindle! Then life got in the way of me completing the reading of it. There is so much more I want to say but I fear I will spoil it for other readers. Faith, Love, and Hope prevail. I highly recommend this book and the entire series. I am very much hoping it will be available on Audible as I have the rest of the series there. It will make a great binge listen.

Beautiful ending to this series What a wonderful conclusion for these characters in a pivotal time for our new country. Bravery knows no limits and doesn't discriminate with men or women. It was great to see how her character grew based on the situations that occurred. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to have a particular character being the one that saved James' life. Knowing many died so others could have liberty for future generations is still amazing and awe inspiring. Although this concludes this set of books I can't wait to read Enoch's story in the spin off series.

Finally! We hear Higley's story! Higley has proven himself a true hero in other books from this series, but in So Bright a Hope he risks his life more than once to protect the woman he's admittedly grown to love.
